She has led the Association for Language Awareness (ALA) as President since 2006 and has held prominent roles such as International Area Chair of the Literacy Research Association (LRA).
Prof. Finkbeiner’s research spans cutting-edge topics, such as artificial intelligence in language education, digital learning, language awareness, cultural awareness, multilingualism, holistic- and action-oriented learning, and content and language integrated learning (CLIL). AI Expert for EU's CG CNECT
AI expert for the studies mandated by the European Commission’s Directorate-General Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT). These studies explored the EU's critical digital capacities development beyond 2027, from research and development to deployment and adoption, across the 2028-2040 time horizon. The outcome of these recommendations as an AI expert was a set of measures to strengthen Europe's capacity in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and open source.

TRANSABCs
In the TRANSABCs project, university professors from the USA and Europe were introduced to the ABC's of Cultural Understanding and Communication teaching model. The model aims to enhance intercultural competence among teachers and students, fostering a perspective that views multiculturalism as an opportunity.
ADEQUA
This research project, supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG), spans two grant periods from April 2005 to March 2008. It aims to investigate how autonomous learning in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms can be effectively facilitated during text-based activities through moderate teacher intervention and the creation of conducive learning environments.
Life Stories
Students and seniors learn together about the future by looking at the past. This project highlights the importance of storytelling and oral history, and how different generations can learn from each other by speaking about the past, the present, and the future. Because every story is worth sharing.
